Timberland Trail (14km) Print

Timberland Trail Waypoint 1
The Timberland Trail is a 14km (9 mile) recreational trail for horseriders, walkers and cyclists linking the villages of Elsecar and Wortley. It passes through a wide variety of landscapes, taking in historical villages, estate parklands, reclaimed collieries and ancient forests. The area was once a major centre for coal and ironstone mining, wire drawing and nail making. So, look out for evidence of the areas rich industrial history along the way. The Timberland Trail forms one arm of the Trans Pennine Trail network, for more information please visit the TPT website.
