Ride the Wolds Waypoint 1
The route description starts at the southern link from Everingham, the bridleway to the south of the start also provides a link to the Bubwith Rail Trail. Ride along the road from Thorpe le Street to Everingham. On entering the village of Everingham take the bridleway on your right towards Bielby Field. Follow the stony track past a pond and new farmhouse and over a narrow bridge. Continue straight on the left hand side of a field and over another bridge and take the sharp right turn around the edge of a field and then a sharp left onto a grassy track. Pass Hayton Field Farm on your right and onto a hard track.

Turn right to Hayton and cross straight over the A1079 carefully and head towards Burnby. At the end of the lane turn right into Burnby and then left to Nunburnholme. As you reach Nunburnholme turn left onto Butt Lane signposted for Pocklington. Head up the hill and turn right onto the Wolds Way. The stony track climbs steeply through woods, go through the gate and head straight across the field another gate at the top. Continue along a track until you reach farm buildings. Turn left and then bear right through the houses and onto a drive.

After a short distance turn right alongside a house up the field. Halfway up the hill turn left onto the grassy track that heads straight towards a gap in a hedge. Cross straight over the fast B1246 and through the metal gates. Continue straight across the field following the fence, through a gate and along grassy track. Eventually, you reach Warrendale Farm. Ride through the farm as the track bears left and continue along the drive. Go straight on the road heading for Millington.

At the junction turn right and follow the road through the village. At the junction cross straight over and follow the narrow lane to another T junction. Take the drive straight in front of you and head down the hill to Great Givendale. Ride through the top of the farmyard and onto the grassy track straight ahead. At the hedge follow the bridleway sign through a gate to the left, being careful of cattle at this point onwards. Head straight across the field towards the wood and traverse the hill to cross a gated bridge over a stream. Continue on the track as it gradually climbs the grass valley following the stream to the road

Cross straight over towards Bishop Wilton. Follow the road as it winds steeply down to a T Junction and turn right to Bishop Wilton. Pass the The Fleece Inn on your left. Turn right at the T junction as you leave the village (towards Fridaythorpe). This is a steep climb on road with magnificent views behind you. At the end is a T junction with a very fast A road.

Cross straight over onto the farm track in front of you (this section is not signposted). Follow the track ahead and keep straight. Do not follow tracks that turn left. Go through a wooden gate into a field and continue on the track in front of you downhill towards Kirby Underdale. When you reach the village of Kirby Underdale keep straight and ride out of the village

Turn right, signposted Uncleby. The hedges here are high and the road narrow so be careful. At the T junction turn left signposted Malton. Ride along the road past the right turn to Thixendale and after approximately 1.2km take the first bridleway on the right onto a farm track. Follow the track, turn right before the buildings through a gate and continue along the valley through gates until you reach a farmhouse and a gate onto the road

Turn right, through the village of Thixendale. At the end of the village turn left signposted Fimber. Turn left at the second double gates on the left onto a track. There is a right hand turn onto a grassy track after a short distance and you will see a gate on the right signposted the Centenary Way. Follow the track to the end of the valley where there is a gate to the right. Go through the gate and keep following signs for the Centenary Way ignoring the first bridleway on the right. At the cross roads of bridleways turn right, then follow the grassy track and go through a metal gate onto the road.

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 9
Turn right for approximately 3km and take the first left before reaching Fimber. Continue on this road and cross straight over the B1248. Follow the track up through the houses to a wooden gate. Beware of cattle. Follow the track along the edge of fields until reaching Mill Farm. After the farm take the lane to the right to reach the B1251.

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 10
Turn left towards Sledmere Village. Pass a monument and take the left turn signposted Kirby Grindalythe. Ride through the village of Kirby Grindalythe, turn left at the junction and immediately right through a bridleway gate. Ride straight along the field edges ignoring the adjoining bridleway on the left. The track follows a field edge to the left and then straight again to the road. Cross straight over the road onto a track past a farm

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 11
At the trees turn right then left keeping the wood on your left. After turning left, keep next to the wood and meet a farm track. Turn right onto the farm track and follow to the road. Turn right. After passing a farm on the left called LadyHills and a wood, look carefully for a bridleway on the left. Follow the track straight ahead and cross straight over a lane onto a farm track. Follow the farm track and as it begins to bend left towards the farmhouse take the bridleway on the right into the fields. Follow the grassy tracks towards the next farm and just before the farm turn left through the wood until you reach the road next to Whin Moor Farm.

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 12
Turn left. After 1km, take the bridleway on the right before East Heslerton Wold Farm. The bridleway heads immediately right handed and down across a field. The route is difficult to follow here so use the map carefully. Follow the field edges and head below the wood that surrounds Moor Farm. Follow the track next to a sparse hedge until it comes out on the road opposite the corner of a wood. Turn right to Weaverthorpe.

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 13
Cross straight over and follow the road to a chalky track. Follow the field edges straight until a farm track and turn right towards Rosemount Farm. At the farm turn left through the buildings and out onto another track heading straight across the fields. At the next farm track turn right then left and follow the signs towards Pasture Farm. Turn right through gates until you reach the road.

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 14
Turn left and then first right (unsuitable for motor vehicles). At the next road, turn left towards Cowlam passing Cowlam Grange and cross straight over at the junction. Take the bridleway on the left at Cowlam Manor. At the edge of the farm take the track on the right and next right to head down the valley next to the wood. Keep heading down until you can follow another bridleway to the right along another valley. At the end, go through a gate onto a road.

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 15
Turn left. To continue to Nunburnholme, carry straight on and after 3km take the unsigned track on the right heading up the hill. To return to Sledmere, after a short distance, turn first right onto a chalky track which turns into lane. Cross straight over the B road at Sir Tatton Sykes Monument and continue following the green lane until the next road. Turn right to Sledmere village.

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 16
At the A road near the village of Garton on the Wolds cross straight over onto another green lane. Follow the main track as is turns sharply to the right and continue to the road. Cross straight over and continue straight again over the B1248 to follow the track through the trees. After 100m, turn left through a gap in the hedge which is easily missed. Continue on a grassy track to Angus Farm. Ride through the farm to the road on the farm drive.

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 17
Turn right and take the first bridleway on the left. Follow the field edge until the bottom of the valley is reached and turn right. Continue straight along the bottom of the valley, ignoring other routes that turn off to the left. At the last field before the road the bridleway turns sharp right for a short distance and then sharp left onto a track to join the road.

Ride the Wolds Waypoint 18
Turn left and then right onto a concrete drive towards Branch Farm. At the farmyard turn right through gates. After the second gate turn right and head down to the bottom of the dale then turn left. Follow the bottom of the grassy dale until you turn right at the bridleway sign and head up hill. At the track turn left then immediately right round the wood. Follow the field edge to a Y junction and turn left following the track to a road.

Turn left and ride down the hill towards Warter. At the T junction turn right, second left and left again, following the lane for approximately 3km towards Nunburnholme. At the T junction turn right into village and over the bridge. Return to Everingham by retracing your route, following the roads through Burnby and Hayton and turn left on the bridleway at Bielby Field.
