Waypoint 1 Cotswolds on Horse Back Ride 3
Edgeworth, Woodmancote & The Dunt Valley, Ride 3 in the Cotswolds on Horseback series. Approx. 27km (17 miles), of which 22km (14 miles) are off-road. Some steep and stony tracks, may be large puddles on some tracks after wet weather; two fords. Parking by arrangement at The Highwayman (01285 821221), a large carpark, easily accessed from the Winstone turning off the A 417 (Grid Reference SO966108). Alternative parking for several vehicles along the old A417, near the Cot Lane turning, NW of the Centurian Garage and Cotswold Farm (SO974097). To park here, leave the A417 and follow signs for services. From The Highwayman car park, head back to the lane and turn right. Follow the lane towards Syde for 0.5km, to arrive at a cross track just past Ermine House Farm. Turn left onto this unsealed road (USR) and follow it for 1.5km, reaching the lane on the edge of Winstone by Pound Cottage.

Carry straight on down the lane for 650m and at Ashgrove Farm, fork left onto USR towards Duntisbourne Abbots (electronically operated gate). Follow this track for 1.5km to reach a junction on the edge of Duntisbourne Abbotts.

Waypoint 3 Cotswolds on Horse Back Ride 3
Turn right to stay on USR, heading west away from the village. Continue through fields, crossing a lane and into a belt of woodland. Here, the track drops steeply (ignore two side tracks on your right) to come to a path junction in front of a field boundary fence. Turn left and very shortly, left again and head uphill on a bridleway (BW) through woodland, exiting into a field. Continue across the field to the gate and BW junction.

Turn right (BW), through another gate into woodland and out again into open ground. As you approach the house (Edgeworth Mill) the BW swings round the house and down to your right to cross the River Frome (bridge), continue on the clear line of the BW to the drive and turn left.

On reaching the lane, go straight on and after 300m, fork right onto a BW that re-crosses the river and climbs again through the grounds of Edgeworth Manor. Follow BW past the house and gardens and through a gate. Turn left, pass the church and turn left again along a narrow lane to go through a field gate at the end.

Waypoint 6 Cotswolds on Horse Back Ride 3
Turn left across the field to BW gate and continue for 0.5km, to a junction of Rights of Way (footpath to your right), turn left on the BW which enters woodland and becomes steep and stony. Continue downhill to ford the river, climbing the opposite bank.

Waypoint 7 Cotswolds on Horse Back Ride 3
Pass Pinbury Park on your left and continue along the drive. After the pond, bear right and follow BW (Macmillan Way) uphill across the grass. After 275m, bear right at the top of the slope to continue between the boundary fence and line of trees. At the far end of this line, turn right through a BW gate, left to the lane and left along the lane for 600m.

Just past Gloucester Lodge, turn right onto BW, and continue to the lane. Cross the lane, and continue on this enclosed BW (Macmillan Way) for 1.5km to the next lane.

Turn right, underpassing the A417 and turn left on BW (MacMillan Way) and continue to tarmac drive, follow this past the buildings and house coming to the lane in Woodmancote.

Dunt Valley Waypoint 10Turn right, underpassing the A417 and turn left on BW (MacMillan Way) and continue to tarmac drive, follow this past the buildings and house coming to the lane in Woodmancote.

Waypoint 11 Cotswolds on Horse Back Ride 3
Turn left and then second left onto BW, passing a children?s playground on your right. TAKE CARE as there is an almost completely filled-in cattle grid. Follow BW past some farm buildings and bear right through a copse.

Waypoint 12 Cotswolds on Horse Back Ride 3
Just beyond the copse, turn left into a field and proceed along the track with the boundary wall on your right. Go through the gate by the barns and continue straight on through the field, swinging right at the bottom of the slope to go through a gate. Turn left towards Cotswold Park house and continue onto the drive (BW). Shortly, take the left fork and continue downhill.

Waypoint 13 Cotswolds on Horse Back Ride 3
At the lane, turn left and after 450m, turn left onto unsealed road which is accessed off the lane on both sides of a large tree. Continue along this to junction with the farm drive and old road to the right. (If you have parked near Cot Lane, turn right to return to your vehicle).

Waypoint 14 Cotswolds on Horse Back Ride 3
Go straight ahead across the old road and underpass the A417. At the T junction, turn right along the lane, then as the lane bends left, go straight ahead up the bank, through the gate onto BW. Cross three fields towards The Highwayman and turn right at the lane to return to the carpark.
