The BHS is frequently asked for recommendation of asphalt/tarmac surfaces which are acceptable for use by horses where the level of motor vehicle use excludes more horse-friendly options. Some asphalt is very slippery, but in other places is not. If you use lengths of road or other route with a tarmac surface which is NOT slippery, please record them here so we can ask the council what material was used.
